There is plenty of other outlining software (often combined with mind-mapping), but none matches OmniOutliner in its simplicity, elegance and power. It is indispensable for preparing writing outlines, lectures, talks and project plans.

Is that notion needs to work fully online, so I have put a little more effort every time I finish reading something and export it to markdown so it stays in my files and it's available offline. OmniOutliner is one of my favorite and most frequently used Mac apps. This is the only workflow that allows me to have a multi platform (Android/Windows/iOs) reliable system to take notes and administrate time and have my files available whenever I want them. I also use mendeley's word plugin to generate bibliography in an easy way. Read the paper in mendeley and highlight/annotate whatever I think it's relevant. Workflowy is a simple tool, but you can share an entire node or just a section. All of the associated information per row (amount, expense name, and checked status) will be sorted with it. I’m testing Omnioutline, which is pretty good, but integration is a bit complicated (automations are not that simple from someone not familiarized with some coding). It saved them here just in case they get replaced by something new when OmniOutliner 4 ships. Tim also takes a look at the changes to the OmniOutliner User Interface and styling your outline using the built in style controls and predefined templates. This is a backup of all styles that ship with OmniOutliner3. I just prepared them for the OS X version of OmniOutliner and added all the different styles styles so that you can start right away typing.
